The National Drug & Alcohol Research Centre Education Trust, funded by the Department of Health and Ageing have published a series of 5 booklets to help people who use alcohol, tobacco or other drugs and have mental health problems such as anxiety, trauma, PTSD, Psychosis. These booklets are available for order at this link.

Alcohol, Smoking & Substance Involvement Screening Test

ASSIST is a questionnaire which screens for all levels of problem or risky substance use in adults. This can be completed online or in paper form. ASSIST-Y is a questionanaire for teenagers and is currently in draft paper based format.

Family Focus

The national Children of Parents with a Mental Illness (COPMI) initiative, with funding from AICAFMHA and the Australian Government, has developed an exciting new e-learning resource, called Family Focus, specifically designed for mental health professionals working in primary health care settings. The resource provides training in a preventive family intervention for families where a parent has depression, anxiety or both. We would like to offer the opportunity for teams of mental health professionals working with Medicare Locals/ Divisions of General Practice to be involved in training in this area, and the accompanying evaluation. Individual team members would need to go through the e-learning resource, which will take approximately six to ten hours to complete.
